Flash Fiction & Poetry Day 10: Villanelle "Do I wander through a dream"

Hey, everyone.

Today's day 10 of my daily writing challenge, and I'm writing this nice and early in the morning, so I am unblemished by the disappointments of the day. This will be pure me. I also want to remind you all that my play The Passion of Gloucester and Sinead is still available for free download. You can get it here.

Wheel of Genres, turn, turn, turn! Tell me the genre I will discern!

Today's topic is... Poetry--Villanelle. Hm, maybe I should make three wheels. This is a little ridiculous.

Anyway, thirty minutes on the clock: 30:00. And... go!

Do I wander through a dream
Whither I go in awe?
Nothing is as it seems.

What could be my brain's scheme?
Whence images doth it draw?
Do I wander through a dream?

I cannot discern the theme
That bestows this odd flaw;
Nothing is as it seems.

My mind doth shine with a strange gleam
As if from ice it thaws.
Do I wander through a dream?

I am caught up in a stream
Of thought and emotion raw.
Nothing is as it seems.

'Pon these wonders what do I deem
So 'pon me my mind doth not gnaw?
Do I wander through a dream?
Nothing is as it seems.

Stop the clock! I have 16 minutes left. Not bad, I guess. As you can tell, later in the poem I started experimenting with line length. I didn't think it was going to work, but it came out all right. I'll have to remember to experiment with other line lengths as I go from here.

But anyway, that's it for today. If you want to use the wheel I made, you should be able to access it here, but I think starting tomorrow I'm going to start using three wheels. And if you have the time, please check out my books for sale on Amazon which you can find through my author page. The link is below. See you tomorrow.

Keep writing, my friends.
